"Blanketed by an azure sky, the orange-yellow rays of the setting sun can, at special times, gift us with a moment of such considerable beauty, we find ourselves momentarily stunned, with frozen gaze. The splendour of the moment so dazzles us, our compulsively chattering minds give pause, so as not to mentally whisk us away to a place other than the here-and-now. Bathed in luminescence, a door seems to open to another reality, always present, yet rarely witnessed."

Russell E Dicarlo

There are "special times" and to be at a suitable location, in position and ready to capture just one of those "special times" is surely what true landscape photography is all about. However, first one has to find that suitable location and that is when time spent in the scouting for possible shooting locations pays dividends.

I count myself as being lucky in that I am fortunate to have stayed all of my life in close proximity to the beautiful photographic shorelines of the Moray Firth. This is a location famed for stunning sunsets and one which is blessed with light that lingers long after sundown. Dawns are pretty special here also but, for some reasons, they never seem to get similar praise! I freely admit that for years I never looked at the area photographically. Yes I gazed at the "special moments" and yes I took pictures yet I never saw the true beauty of this area.

Thank you for viewing my images and I hope that, just maybe, one will open a door "to another reality, always present, yet rarely witnessed".
